Winners at the MBA Awards

Following on from his recent win at the AIB Awards Ross Greenup proved once again that he’s certainly up for a challenge, taking out the prestigious award for Project Manager of the Year at the recent MBA Awards held at the National Convention Centre Canberra on Friday 27 June 2014.

Ross had total responsibility for the construction of the extension of the Emergency Department and ICU at The Canberra Hospital project, which was also recognised at the Awards, winning the Project Exhibiting Technical Difficulty and Innovation category.

This extremely complex project was built over a site with unbelievable constraints including existing major in-ground services such as a high voltage power line, fire, water and gas mains, plus an access roadway that could not be closed, nor the ED/ICU shut down. The logistics of delivering this project without interruption to such services is a major achievement in itself and Ross demonstrated exceptional project management skills to execute this project, with the Shaw Building Group team. During construction, the existing service road to the main communication /server room and the Building 1 plant room (which ran under the new building) had to be maintained.

What’s more, the sensitivity surrounding the ED/ICU was paramount and Ross and his team worked closely with hospital staff to ensure there was minimal disruption to services and client care was not compromised. From accolades provided by hospital staff, the onsite team led by Ross, achieved high levels of satisfaction and this is truly testament to their degree of dedication and professionalism.

Special thanks also to the contractors on the project who worked tirelessly to overcome the challenges that the project presented.

Congratulations to all involved!
