University Of Canberra Sporting Commons Handed Over

The University of Canberra Sporting Commons Project is a multi-function facility housing the University of Canberra Union, Brumbies Rugby, The National Institute of Sports Studies (NISS) and ACTSport. It will serve as the administrative centre for all tenants, as well as providing elite training and research facilities for sports studies undertaken by the University, NISS and the Brumbies.

The project include the redevelopment of a high level full sized playing field and skills field for training purposes for the Brumbies, a fully equipped gym for UCU, NISS and the Brumbies, an indoor sprint track, an environmental chamber used for high altitude and high humidity training, exercise pools for recovery and conditioning, new car-parking facilities for the campus and surrounding landscaping that incorporates a new Bocce court for use by ACTSport and the Special Olympics.
